Every day we help families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness. Families who face the possibility that their child may die. Our Family Support Workers care for the whole family - parents, siblings, grandparents and relatives. From their child’s diagnosis, during treatment and sadly, if needed, through bereavement and beyond.
Thanks to all our supporters we raised £4.65m to help families when they need it most. Whether you ran a marathon, dropped your loose change in a collecting tin, or set up a monthly direct debit, you made a huge difference to the families we support. We exist because of you.
In 2013/14 we began the pilot for our neonatal programme of care to help families cope with the pressures and complexities of having a newborn baby in intensive care and developed dedicated sibling support. We cared for and supported almost 1,700 families, 24% more than last year. Every single day our Family Support Workers did whatever it took to make life just a little bit easier for families at their time of greatest need.
Here is the amazing story of our year and a celebration of those extraordinary people who have made such a difference to our work.
