About the role:

We are looking to appoint a Volunteer Coordinator. The Volunteer Coordinator will support the Volunteer Manager in the development and delivery of Rainbow Trust’s volunteer programme.

Reporting to the Volunteer Manager, you will be the first point of contact for volunteering enquiries and will be involved in all aspects of the volunteer programme including recruitment, induction, management, engagement and retention.

Working closely with our fundraising, engagement and care teams, you will monitor and respond to all volunteering enquiries, and ensure the effective coordination of all elements of the volunteer lifecycle.

Building excellent relationships with external stakeholders such as volunteer centres and universities and colleges, you will help to raise awareness of volunteering opportunities at Rainbow Trust and engage with our volunteers to ensure they are fully supported and valued. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records on the volunteer database and assisting with the planning and delivery of volunteer engagement and celebration events.

Location: Leatherhead, Surrey, flexible working options available. Our modern Head Office is situated in Leatherhead, Surrey located just 45 minutes from London Waterloo and Victoria and 25 minutes from Guildford. We are less than a 10 minute walk from Leatherhead Station and the town centre, with free on-site parking.


What we’re looking for:

  • A conscientious and outgoing administrator - you have a collaborative and thorough approach, and are able to produce accurate, high quality work. Applications will be particularly welcome from those who have worked or volunteered in a charity and have experience of working with volunteers,
  • An outgoing and friendly communicator – you’re considerate of the needs of others, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A consistent and disciplined approach to work – you thrive on completing tasks accurately in a steady, methodical manner, and have experience of working in an administrative or back office support role (preferably in an SME)
  • Competent with MS Office, office 365 and database use – you’re able to produce accurate reports and update relevant websites and social media with marketing communication; and you have a high level of attention to detail to accurately maintain databases and excel spreadsheets.
  • Cooperative and harmonious working style – you’re a helpful and supportive team member
  • Educated to A-level (or equivalent) – a commitment to your continuing professional development, this role would be particularly suitable for someone looking to develop a career in volunteer management.
