Rugby fans were treated to an intimate ‘Inside the Rugby World Cup’ dinner and Q&A with rugby legend and Rainbow Trust Patron Austin Healey last week. The evening, compered by sports broadcaster, Ian Payne, gave fans an opportunity to grill Austin, getting insider answers to burning World Cup questions whilst enjoying dinner at the renowned Balls Brothers, Minster Exchange in London. The event raised over £17,000 to help families with a seriously ill child.

Guests had the chance to bid on some amazing prizes in the silent auction, including a signed Tracey Emin piece and VIP sports experiences.

Matthew White, a dad supported by Rainbow Trust spoke of his experiences of receiving help from Rainbow Trust and shared his experiences of caring for a seriously ill child. Matthew’s daughter, Emily is 17 and has a rare brain condition.

“We are so grateful to Austin, Ian and Matthew for their contribution to the evening, but most importantly we want to thank all of the people who attended the evening. Without your ongoing support and generosity we would not be able to help as many families as we are currently able to. Events like this are vital for us as a charity to help raise vital funds. It was an incredible evening and as a rugby fan myself it was the perfect way to get ready for the World Cup.”

So far the event has raised £17,000 for Rainbow Trust. This is enough to cover the cost of support for ten families for a whole year.
