Our latest campaign - Find our Rainbow - is launching in Bristol on National Find a Rainbow Day this Saturday 3 April.
The campaign encourages Bristol residents to find beautiful rainbow painted rocks in key locations. Successful hunters can then post a picture of the rainbow rocks they find and tag our Instagram account, before re-hiding them for others to discover. Some of the rocks have been thoughtfully hand-painted and hidden by Rainbow Trust Family Support Workers based in our South West team, who support seriously ill children and their families in the area.
The remaining hidden rocks have also been proudly painted by Phoebe (3), and her brother Rory (8), who have been supported by Family Support Worker Wendy since early 2020 when Phoebe was diagnosed with a cancerous Wilms' tumour in her kidney. Phoebe’s Mum Katie says:
“Phoebe and Rory were so excited to get involved with the Find Our Rainbow campaign. Our Rainbow Trust Family Support Worker, Wendy, has been an absolute God send, supporting our whole family since April last year.”
Phoebe finished her treatment in October and rang the bell at Bristol Children’s Hospital to celebrate, a joyful moment for Phoebe and all the family. You can read more about Phoebe's journey on our Family Stories page.
Throughout the changing Government COVID-19 guidance, Wendy has continued supporting Phoebe and Rory's whole family. They have enjoyed walks, scavenger hunts, singing, quizzes, doorstep deliveries of Christmas gifts, virtual calls including reading stories and anything else the family needed. Katie says:
“We embraced Rainbow Trust’s support and Wendy’s help meant that we did not feel so alone. That is why we are so happy to help Rainbow Trust with this fun Find Our Rainbow campaign. We hope in some small way we can repay the charity for the incredible support we have received, and we hope that this will encourage other Bristol families to get involved and spread awareness of this brilliant organisation, that helps families at the toughest of times.”
If you are in the Bristol area, join in with the #FindOurRainbow campaign by keeping your eyes peeled for a rainbow rock in key Bristol locations. If you find a rock, share it to your Instagram stories (tagging Rainbow Trust) and hide it in a new place for somebody else to find! You can follow the journey of the rainbow rocks by following us on Instagram. You can also DM us to let us know where you think we should launch the campaign next!
