When Jedidiah Obaseki was asked what he wanted to do to celebrate his fifth birthday, he decided that he wanted to share all the presents he received, to cheer up children that weren’t as fortunate as him.
Jedidiah’s mum, Precious said,
“Jedidiah had a birthday party and he decided that he would like to give his presents away to other children who needed an extra reason to smile. Together we started to research local charities and Jedidiah’s godmother suggested Rainbow Trust because they help seriously ill children near our home in Essex. I’m very proud of how selfless he is.”
Jedidiah and his mum travelled to Pitsea to meet Rainbow Trust’s Essex Care Team to donate toys and gifts that he received as well as £30 in donations. Our Family Support Workers were thrilled to meet one of Rainbow Trust’s youngest donors and will pass on all his gifts to sick children and their siblings.
Emma Haines Director of Marketing and Fundraising said:
“Our Essex care team is absolutely delighted to welcome Jedidiah to our new offices in Pitsea. He is an inspiration and an incredibly generous boy and I know our team will use his donated birthday gifts in the very best way possible, passing them on to families who will appreciate them.”
This year, Rainbow Trust celebrates 30 years of supporting the families of children with a life-threatening or terminal illness. Inspired by Jedidiah? Find out more about how you can celebrate with us and pledge your birthday to raise funds for families.
