From Source to Sea, four friends kayaked 200 miles of the Thames, raising almost £2,800 to support seriously ill children and their families.
Before attending a basic training course, the Source to Sea team, Kieran, Ken, Marcus and Toby had never done any kayaking before. Celebrating 20 years of friendship they embarked on the incredible challenge, paddling 200 miles from Lechlade in the Cotswolds to Canvey Island. Averaging 8 hours a day in their kayaks, the team covered approximately 27 miles each day, passing a total of 40 locks, the Thames Barrier and passing under the Dartford Bridge to see the underside of the M25.
Sporting Rainbow Trust T-shirts and rainbow hair, the team managed to attract a few additional sponsors whilst paddling, which helped to boost their fundraising total to a phenomenal £2796.25! This money will enable us to provide 122 hours of practical and emotional support to a family caring for a seriously ill child, helping them to make the most of precious time together.
