Richard Revell, from Hampshire is taking on a challenge few dare to even think about. Richard will be tackling the gruelling 156 mile Marathon Des Sables across the Sahara desert on 3 April to raise money for Rainbow Trust.
The Marathon Des Sables takes place over six days and spans an enormous 156 miles across saltpans, up desert-mountains, through ruined towns and through the occasional sand storm. Richard will face 120 degree heat carrying a heavy backpack containing all he will need to stay safe and healthy during the mammoth challenge. His incredible efforts are in a bid to raise £75,000 for Rainbow Trust.
“Despite how challenging this is going to be, completing the Marathon Des Sables will be a phenomenal achievement and knowing what I raise will be going to such great causes, makes it all worthwhile.” Richard, Rainbow Trust supporter.
Emma Haines, Director of Fundraising and Marketing at Rainbow Trust commented:
“Taking on a challenge of this magnitude is not for the feint hearted and we wish Richard and everyone else taking part the very best of luck.”
The money raised by Richard will allow Rainbow Trust Family Support Workers to continue the much needed support they provide families with a seriously ill child.
