At Rainbow Trust we have a team of dedicated regional fundraisers, ready to spread the word and help you raise funds in your community to support families. Molly, our new Regional Fundraiser for London, shares her plans for the future and how you can get involved.
Hello, my name is Molly and I am the Regional Fundraiser for London. This is a new role at Rainbow Trust and I joined in November 2016 after completing an internship with the Corporate Fundraising Team.
I am currently working hard to create and maintain relationships with different communities in London.
“I knew from a young age I wanted to help people.”
I knew from a young age I wanted to help people, I volunteered at any opportunity and found myself surrounded by like-minded individuals as I grew up. My parents were heavily involved with Rainbow Trust when I was a child, my mum completed a sky-dive while my dad ran marathons and lead motorbike rallies across India. Last year I completed my training which enabled me to volunteer for the Samaritans. I took phone calls, responded to e-mails and visited prisons. I soon realised the positive impact of my involvement and I began to look into fundraising roles and working within a charitable organisation as a career path.
My time as a Corporate Intern was inspiring, I looked forward to coming to work and I learned something new every day. I was brainstorming at corporate meetings, writing press releases, attending networking conferences and venturing out to attend all sorts of events. I became even more passionate about Rainbow Trust and was made to feel a valued member of the team. I knew that Rainbow Trust was the organisation I wanted to work for on a permanent basis.
“Going into a new role has been challenging but really rewarding.”
Going into a new role has been challenging but really rewarding. There is a lot of research to be done and a huge variety of different groups I’d like to work with. My current plan is to meet with contacts to talk about what we do to try and build partnerships with different community groups and organisations. If you belong to a group and would be happy to make an introduction to Rainbow Trust please get in touch, I would love to hear from you!
My current focus is to work with educational establishments and adult community groups such as rotary clubs, WIs, roundtables or masonic lodges. Beneficiary events are also a great way of raising both our profile and our income, so I am keen to also find out about any events being held in the London area that would consider holding the event for Rainbow Trust, this can be anything from art shows, concerts, to balls and quiz nights.
I hope to meet many of you at events in London over the coming year, but in the meantime if you belong to any group, have any contacts or have any ideas how we can expand our networks in London, I would love to have a chat with you.
You can contact me on email or call me on 01372 220091.
