A local businessman will host an annual golf tournament on Tuesday 14 June as part of our 30th Anniversary celebrations, helping us to support families caring for a child with a life threatening or terminal illness.
Kevin Whitfield, Managing Director of Wellsprings Properties Limited, Durham, hopes the Matfen Hall event will smash their fundraising target of £14,000 for the charity for which he is Patron.
The four-ball shotgun start tournament at the 19th Century country mansion, which is owned by fellow Rainbow Trust Patron Sir Hugh Blackett, begins with coffee and bacon rolls.
Contest events include beat the pro, longest drive and nearest the pin. There will also be a prize-draw raffle, presentation and two-course supper.
Kevin said: “As Patron of this fantastic charity I am proud to host this event for the 14th year. The first golf day took place in 2002 and since then we have raised over £86,000 for Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity. We are hoping that this year will be our biggest yet and will take our fundraising total over £100,000 raising more money than we ever have before.”
Rainbow Trust are now supporting 150 families across the North East, but there are more that need our support. By attending this event you will enable Rainbow Trust’s North East Family Support Team to help more families and get one step closer to our vision that one day all terminally ill children will have access to a Rainbow Trust Family Support Worker. Join us on for a great day of golf in the Northumberland countryside in our 30th Anniversary year and help us celebrate 30 years of caring for seriously ill children and their families.
