Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity is delighted to have been chosen by the i newspaper to be the beneficiary of its 2021 Christmas Charity Appeal.
Rainbow Trust supports families who have a child aged 0-18 years with a life-threatening or terminal illness. Our Family Support Workers provide support to the whole family including parents, carers, the unwell child, brothers, sisters and grandparents. This vital service is available at no cost to families and we rely almost entirely on voluntary donations and the generosity of the public to deliver this support.
For the families we support the i's Christmas Charity Appeal could not have come at a better time, as they face continued challenges and enormous pressures from the pandemic. We have been continuing to adapt and innovate our services to stand firm in our commitment to these families, taking on new referrals whenever we can.
Just £26 enables our Family Support Workers to provide one hour of bespoke practical and emotional support to a family with a life-threatened or terminally ill child, helping them make the most of time together.
- £5 could buy fun arts and crafts activities to keep a seriously ill child entertained during a hospital stay.
- £15 could cover the cost of a day out, to a cinema or bowling, for a sibling of a seriously ill child who just wants to have some fun.
- £60 could provide a sick child with a customised pack to use during virtual support sessions.
- £1,780 is the average cost of support for a family with a seriously ill child for a year.
i readers, through their donations to the i Christmas Charity Appeal, will be helping Rainbow Trust to reach even more families with a seriously ill child in 2022 and beyond.
Zillah Bingley, our Chief Executive, says:
“We are so grateful to the i for choosing Rainbow Trust as its 2021 Christmas Appeal charity. The families we support are still recovering from an incredibly turbulent time following the pandemic and for many families Rainbow Trust is one of the only trusted constants in their lives.
The generous donations received by i readers will enable us to continue to adapt and expand our support to families across the UK caring for a seriously ill child, making an incredible difference to many people’s lives.”
A huge thank you to i once again for choosing us as the chosen charity for their 2021 Christmas Appeal.
