We are thrilled to announce that we have received £64,500 from the UK’s leading health solutions provider, Simplyhealth, through its Christmas giving campaign.
This festive season, Simplyhealth wanted to support three amazing charities to help them to continue their incredible work. Simplyhealth does not answer to shareholders but instead reinvest its profits into helping their customers access the healthcare they need and supporting their communities.
Therefore, for three weeks, Simplyhealth put the decision making in people’s hands by inviting them to vote to decide how to divide £150,000 between three charities, The Trussell Trust, Crisis and Rainbow Trust.
Simplyhealth’s support is particularly important during these challenging times where families caring for a child with a life-threatening condition are being disproportionately affected by the cost-of-living crisis. Families are having to choose between paying electricity bills to keep life-saving medical equipment running for their seriously ill child, putting food on the table, and paying for transport to and from hospital appointments.
Rainbow Trust received an incredible 43% of the vote, meaning Simplyhealth kindly donated a very generous £64,500 to us. This is enough to cover the total cost of 13 Family Support Worker’s vehicles. Many families are struggling to pay for fuel costs during these challenging times and cannot rely on public transport as it can be detrimental to their child’s already compromised immune systems. Having a Family Support Worker take them to and from hospital appointments can help eliminate this concern and save families money on their fuel costs.
Oonagh Goodman, Director of Fundraising at Rainbow Trust, comments:
“We are delighted to be chosen as one of the beneficiaries of Simplyhealth’s Christmas campaign. Your support will help ensure families with a seriously ill child receive the vital practical and emotional support they so desperately need. Simplyhealth’s support is particularly valuable at a time when Rainbow Trust is very concerned about the increased financial burden of the cost-of-living crisis on families caring for a seriously ill child. With Simplyhealth’s support, we can continue to support families through this very difficult time.”
Vicky Bramley, Chief of Staff and Head of Strategy at Simplyhealth said:
“Simplyhealth is a purpose-led company, we were created for the good of society and with the increasing cost-of-living crisis, we wanted to support those who really needed it this winter. We are grateful to all those who have voted and are pleased to be able to make donations to each of these incredible charities.”
A huge thank you to everyone who voted for Rainbow Trust; we are overwhelmed knowing that over 5,000 people voted to support us. An even bigger thank you to all the team at Simplyhealth for your generosity in 2022.
