It has been a difficult time for charities as many of our events and fundraising challenges have been cancelled or postponed. We have created this programme of events to give you an idea of how you can get involved virtually - whether it be a social event or something sporty - to help raise vital funds for seriously ill children and their families at a time when they need it most.
You can participate in a virtual challenge anywhere and at any time. From virtual bake offs, to hosting raffles on Zoom or participating in half marathons, we have many ways that you can still fundraise for us during this time.
Join the Great Rainbow Bake
Join this year’s #GreatRainbowBake! It will be slightly different but there are still many ways you can get involved. Why not hold a socially distanced bake sale for friends and family, host a virtual bake or quiz, or even just bake and donate to us? Sign up for the Great Rainbow Bake today.
Take on the Virtual Great North Run
The Great North Run will be different this year with the 13.1 mile race going virtual. With their partners ViRACE, the organisers are creating an app to bring you an innovative virtual experience with audio clips so that you will hear the sounds of the crowds and the iconic Red Arrows flying past!
All runners will start their Virtual Great North Run at the same time and will be tracked throughout the race enabling them to view results after it has finished.
The Virtual Great North Run is free to enter – all you need to do is sign up, set up your fundraising page and get your trainers on!
Virtual runs for everyone, to do anywhere!
We have a variety of distances that you can choose from if you would like to participate in a virtual run for us. There’s the Tatton 10k, the Richmond Park Half Marathon or maybe you want to push yourself and try the Big Charity Run (which has distances ranging from 30 to 120 miles to complete across 1 month).
Be creative and participate in your own challenge to suit you
Even though many events have been cancelled, we’re still here to support your own fundraising challenges. We love seeing the creative ways in which our supporters choose to raise money for us, such as headshaves, virtual quizzes, and cycles from London to Paris! Please let us know about your fundraising ideas.
Do a mile and donate
#BeMoreAdam. 13 year-old Adam, who was supported by Rainbow Trust during treatment for brain and spinal cancer, took on a 250-mile virtual fundraising cycle for us, to ‘visit his Dad’, who he was unable to see in lockdown. Adam has now completed his fundraising challenge, but you can still show your support for his amazing efforts by participating. You just need to cycle, skip, hop (or any other way you fancy!) a mile and then donate what you can to Adam's fundraising page.
Once you've decided what your virtual fundraising looks like, there's just a few simple steps you need to take to get started. Simply create a JustGiving page for the challenge of your choice or raise offline funds and pay them via our donation portal.
We support all fundraising activities no matter how big or small, so please get in touch with our friendly fundraising team today if you would like to get involved - and don't forget to tag us on social media too, we'd love to see what you're planning! Thank you!
